Watch and learn
Coracle, in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, has launched a series of web-based seminars, or webinars, that are open to all.
All you need to attend is an internet-connected computer and a telephone to give you access to live training and interaction with other students.
Brush up your professional knowledge in preparation for the April ICS examinations as well as doing your bit for the environment as you will reduce your carbon footprint by not having to travel to attend traditional offsite seminars. And if that isn’t enough, you and your company save money!
Coracle is pleased to announce that the first round of study grants from our Education Fund has been awarded.
While Coracle’s eLearning naturally transcends barriers of language, geography, race, gender and physical abilities, the Coracle Education Fund aims to remove the financial barriers to learning, where possible.
If you would like to apply for funds for your Coracle learning please click here for information and an application form.
The deadline for applications for the next round of awards is March 27, ahead of a meeting of the trustees on March 30.
The big 5,000
A big thank you to all our supporters and students for helping us top 5,000 downloads a month on www.ShippingPodcasts.com
On top of our regular weekly Baltic Exchange dry cargo and Braemar-Seascope tanker podcasts, the latest shipping podcasts to hit the site include the latest update on Piracy from Ince and Co and the findings from the MSC Napoli case.
Keep on top of Coracle updates, as well as special offers and news as it happens by following Coracle on Twitter.
Twitter is one of the most popular social networking sites and allows users to send and read other users’ updates, known as tweets… Famous tweeters include Barack Obama, the BBC, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and from our own industry even the venerable Lloyds List…
Coracle and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers have featured as a case study in a new CISCO book, The Power of IP Video: Unleashing productivity with visual networking.
Praising Coracle’s multi-faceted approach to learning delivered, the book also highlights the dramatic reduction in the real cost of studying for the ICS exams brought about by Coracle’s eLearning.
Our man on the ground in Dubai, Professor Tom James, has been busy in the run up to examinations helping students in Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates get signed up for the April sitting in the UAE.
Keen to support students throughout the region, Tom says: ’The wide geographical spread and the sheer number of countries in the Middle East has in the past made it difficult for students to take ICS examinations. I’m working to change that so that our students can concentrate more time on their revision and less on worrying about registration details!’
