Brush up on your language skills

Don’t let your language gremlins get the better of you; allow Coracle to help you to improve your English language ability. As the international language of shipping, sound understanding of the English language is essential for success.

Coracle understands that finding the time to attend traditional English classes can be next to impossible in this fast-moving industry.

But there is another way!

Study English as a Foreign Language with Coracle and take a course from your own home or office and interact live over the internet with your teacher.

With classes of no more than five students, and professional and enthusiastic teachers, Coracle tailors classes to fit with your requirements. You can choose from a variety of classes or help design your own syllabus by telling us what you wish to focus on.

Furthermore, each class session is automatically transcribed for the benefit of both you and your teacher and every week you will receive personalised, detailed written feedback, based on your teacher’s evaluation of these transcripts.

More than just hot air

With the environment top of agendas throughout the world today, polluting emissions have fast become public enemy number 1. With little room for error in what is a comparatively new topic, improving knowledge of emissions trading is crucial.

The launch of Coracle’s online Emissions Trading resource allows just that. Setting the stage, the course outlines the birth of the global emissions market, discussing green and global environmental trading schemes, as well as market mechanisms for reducing emissions.

The course also gives an overview of carbon exchanges, drawing on topical case studies and legal precedents. It also considers risk management options, investment opportunities and takes that all-important look at what the future holds for this fast developing market.

Take eLearning to the next level

In response to feedback from students, Coracle has launched a new level of education: the Advanced Diploma. In addition to our suite of shipping-related courses, the Advanced Diploma aims to build on knowledge already gained in the Foundation Diploma and allows students to specialise in one area.

Under the Advanced Diploma, a student must take Shipping Business and one specialist module, while the Foundation Diploma calls for Introduction to Shipping and one specialist module.

Amsterdam's the place to be...

To put your newfound shipping knowledge into practice, don’t forget that the prestigious TOC Europe event is happening this month in Amsterdam.

It’s Europe’s most influential Terminal Operations Conference and Exhibition, with visitors and exhibitors from shipping lines, ports and terminals. Taking place from June 17-19 at the RAI in the business district of Amsterdam, it costs nothing to attend the exhibition and is a good place to network with key shipping personalities.

And lastly... do you know your Flags of Convenience ?

The flags shown below belong to countries that the International Transport Workers’ Federation have declared as Flags of Convenience. Can you name the countries they belong to?
