Double awards whammy for Coracle

From Orange...

We are delighted to bring you the news that Coracle has been short-listed for the UK National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange

The aim of these awards is to reward and recognise excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the business community. We are told that judges will be looking for evidence of three key guiding principles in all categories: commercial success, innovation in performance improvement, and ethics in respect of legislation, regulation, the environment and the rights of all stakeholders.

Judging takes place in October with a glittering ceremony to announce the winners taking place in London on November 18.

Wish us luck!

to the deep blue

And in a further nod to Coracle’s successful development, we were one of 13 businesses short-listed for the inaugural Poseidon Challenge Award last month.

Coracle joined big-hitters Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and Thenamaris Ship Management in the well-represented shortlist, but it was the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) who won the award for its work on the successful introduction of the new IACS Common Structural Rules for Tankers, including the accelerated introduction of the new IMO Standards for Protective Coatings more than 18 months in advance of their mandated IMO implementation date.

Spice up your shipping knowledge

If taking the Coracle/ICS exams has whetted your appetite for all things shipping, why not get down to one of the upcoming maritime-related events to really get a feel for this dynamic industry?

TOC Europe is Europe’s most influential Terminal Operations Conference and Exhibition, with visitors and exhibitors from shipping lines, ports and terminals.

Hosted at the RAI in the business district of Amsterdam, June 17-19, 2008, TOC Europe’s exhibition will span over 3,000 sq m, and is expected to attract over 130 international port and terminal service providers, suppliers and operators, along with more than 1,500 participants.

Now in its 32nd year, TOC Europe 2008’s conference will feature some of the industry’s most influential speakers including David Appleton of NOL Group, Peter Sondergaard of APM Terminals and Pierre Timmermans, CEO of PSA Europe.

It costs nothing to attend the exhibition, so you really do have nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, this month sees the Dry Cargo International Bulk Conference and Exhibition take place in the Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam, May 27-28, 2008.

Covering all aspects of the international dry bulk industry, this event promises to attract a diverse global audience.
