Don't be isolated
In 1624 the poet John Donne wrote some lines that describe with clarity how people do better when connected to others.
No man is an island, Entire of itself, Every man is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manor of thy friend's Or of thine own were: Any man's death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind, And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
Utilising online technologies in learning does not mean encouraging learners to isolate themselves: the Learning Line encourages connections, sharing, communication and integration wherever possible.
Integration enable goal setting
Setting goals is important: important for your organisation and for your team.
Aims reflect expectations and intentions of the organisation, whilst outcomes relate to the achievements of an individual.
Creating definable aims allows objectives to be set towards which efforts can be directed.
In order to set objectives and targets for an individual, we encourage organisations to start by recognising who it is that the individual is 'competing' against. From a learning point of view the answer is themselves. Providing a framework for an individual to design targets that are aimed to boost confidence leads to better outcomes.
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
Integrating with other systems used by your organisation helps help keep everyone on top of goals.
The Learning Line APIs are used to allow activities to communicate user progress with the Learning Line and to connect to other systems.
Learning is best achieved when not isolated
